30 weeks! Another milestone in my book. It feels good to have reached this point - and have only 10 weeks to go.
When BBS-B's cousin Mira in Portland saw the 3D pictures of him - she said she thinks he has a "paci" in his mouth. Grandpa & Grandma Smith sent us this photo. We think Mira doesn't look too happy at the prospect of having to share her Papa and Grandma!
BBS-B now weighs about 3 pounds and measures about 10.8 inches from crown to rump. He continues to gain weight and layers of fat. This fat makes him less wrinkly and will help provide warmth after birth. His brain is fully formed, and he can feel pain. He can also suck his thumb.
As a Christmas gift, Brooke bought me a prenatal massage. I went last weekend - and it was wonderful. I started off with a jacuzzi milk bath (I can't wait for my tub!). Then, for the massage, they used a special pregnancy pillow so I can lay on my stomach. At first it was a little uncomfortable, and I felt like I was smushing BBS-B. But once we settled in, it was great to lay on my stomach.
This week I started having some pelvic/hip pain - which is very common in the last trimester. The biggest problem is sleeping at night - though a long day at the office seems to make it worse. I think I need to start taking more breaks - and take short walks during the day. I'm still taking pilates, so will ask if there's something they can recommend.
I think BBS-B had a growth spurt this week. His movements have a bit more punch to them! Also, when I lay on my back, and am completely relaxed - my belly feels a little lumpy. We can notice his growing parts - maybe longer limbs and those big feet!
We've started to think more about getting things ready. We actually bought diapers (view this photo) ...and the car seat arrived. The crib shipped, and should get here this week some time.
Stanford Hospital requires that I take a "Pregnancy Leave of Absence" class before going out on leave. I went last week. It turns out that it's really complicated to leave work after having a baby. However, I think we have it all figured out - and I'm going to be able to take off 6-months. My boss is wonderful. They want me to come back happy - so are giving me as much time as we need. Brendan will be taking 6 weeks off as well. He will take his in 2 week segments over the course of the 6 months. I feel very fortunate that we are going to be able to have this time with our new family.
We need an updated profile of your belly!
