Since going back to work, time is flying by faster than ever before. Perhaps this has been the fastest for me since Max was born. Because of that, this will be a short post.
Part of why it has been so fast, is because Max is moving so fast. He started crawling, pulling himself up, and is more interactive with us. With this comes more responsibility for entertaining as well as making sure he does not fall…however, that does not always happen. Max has taken to “bonking” his head quite frequently these days.
Max has started to play a few games. He can do “So Big” and throw his arms in the air when we say those words. This is the first time we’ve seen him communicate and respond back to us in such a way.
Max received some new toys – and can push his truck while crawling.
The biggest event (probably more for his parents) in Maxwell’s 8th month was when we went to Portland for Mira’s 3rd birthday. We decided very last minute to jet off to Portland to celebrate with Mira and the rest of the family. Brendan picked up Maxwell, and then me before we headed off to the San Francisco Airport.
When we arrived at the airport, Brendan exited the car to go to our luggage, at the same time that Max projectile vomited three times. I have never seen anything like it. He was covered. We pulled out our luggage, and cleaned Max up and headed in to the airport, weary of what we would encounter with our sick baby. Was it the flu? Was it carsickness? Who knew?
Max seemed happy and back to himself as we made our way through security and on board the plane. I nursed him twice on the plane, and he seemed OK. However, as we approached PDX, with the landing gear out, Max vomited all over me, and then he cried, and cuddled into his Mama. We waited until everyone else got off the plane before we exited. We felt so bad for him.
We retrieved our luggage and waited outside for Andrea to pick us up. Once we got into the car, I experienced one of my most helpless moments ever. Once again – Maxwell projectile vomited three times. My poor baby. I stroked his head – and he looked at me with those big eyes. I wanted to cry. Vomiting seven-times in just a few hours concerned me and I worried about what we would do if it didn’t stop.
He never threw up again – and we all had a great time at the birthday festivities. Mira and Max had so much fun together.
His vomiting resumed several days later. Brendan stayed home with him to make sure he wasn’t getting any other kids sick. However, in the end – it doesn’t seem like it was anything contagious. We’re thinking it’s more likely a food intolerance of some sort. It was a stressful few days of worrying though.
Speaking of food...
Max is eating “real people” solid foods (meaning they are not pureed). Here’s what he likes:
Sweet potatoes/yams
Peas
Carrot chunks
Bananas
Barley Cereal
O’s
Barley Biscuits
